SparkLight Creates is a story-driven experience agency based in Northern Kentucky. We design stories, gatherings, and places that help communities see themselves and each other more clearly. We pair narrative craft with cultural programming and civic strategy, so every experience we build is felt deeply, funded well, and made to last.

Every neighborhood holds stories that rarely get told out loud: who built it, who held it together, who was left out, and who is arriving now. When those stories stay hidden, people pass each other without recognition. When they are brought into the light, strangers become neighbors.
We work in three forms, each one a way of helping people see:

Stories give people the words. We write books, scripts, spoken word, and narrative campaigns that carry a community's voice with care and precision.

Gatherings give people the room. We produce conferences, festivals, readings, and programs where people show up as themselves and leave with a stronger sense of each other.

Places give people the ground. We help parks, public spaces, historic sites, and developments hold memory and invite belonging, from the first plan to the final ribbon cutting.
We start by listening, because clarity comes from the people who live the story. Then we shape what we hear into experiences people can step into, gather around, and carry home.

We picture a Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky where culture isn't imported. Instead, it is lit from within, one block, one river town, one neighborhood at a time.

Told: Every neighborhood can hear its own history and its present tense in its own voice, in books, on stages, and in public record.

Gathered: People have regular reasons to be in the same room across lines of age, race, income, and zip code, and they leave knowing each other better.

Built: Parks, corners, cemeteries, riverfronts, and new developments carry the memory of who came before and make room for who is coming next.
We measure progress by what people say when they walk through their own neighborhood: this place knows me, and I know it.

Founder, Chief Imagination Officer
Kareem is a community development not-for-profit professional with 21 years of experience as a community enthusiast and a student of organizational leadership. Kareem has designed his career around finding innovative ways to help marginalized communities create pathways for success and self-sufficiently, in all facets of life. Kareem is steadfast, driven and detail-oriented. A former non-commissioned officer of the Military Intelligence Branch of the United States Army, serving as a Korean Linguist, Kareem relies on strong critical thinking, communication and decision-making skills developed throughout his career to spur community development in positive ways.
Some places are known for what they build. Others are known for what they remember. At SparkLight Creates, we believe the most powerful places do both.
We are a story-driven experience agency rooted in Covington, Kentucky, and working across Greater Cincinnati and beyond. We design stories, gatherings, and places that help communities see themselves and each other more clearly. Sometimes that looks like a book that carries a neighborhood's voice. Sometimes it's a conference where entrepreneurs who never fit the mold finally find their people. Sometimes it's a park plan shaped by the young people who actually play there.
Whatever the form, our process stays the same. We listen first. We find the story at the center. We design an experience people can step into. And because good ideas need more than inspiration, we build the funding strategy and plan that keep the work alive long after opening day.
SparkLight was founded by author and community practitioner K.A. Simpson, whose novels and essays treat Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky as both literary and civic ground. That dual lens of storyteller and civic builder shapes everything we make. We write like artists and plan like organizers.
Our vision is a region where every neighborhood's story is told, gathered, and built into the places people share. We are building it one story, one gathering, and one place at a time.
